Everyone is welcome and we will provide games (corn hole, craps, shuffle board), music, food, beverages, and fire pits. The party is a family friendly event and feel free to bring anyone you wish. We have several hundred people attend our party each year. The Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade attracts thousands of viewers along the one mile plus route down primarily East River Road. The official viewing area is diagonally across from our office at the Rumson Fire House.
The Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade Started in 2013 just after Hurricane Sandy destroyed many towns in our area that traditionally hosted the parades. To lift the area resident spirits and replace the lost parades, Rumson began their parade which is now one of the largest in New Jersey. The following is the history of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in America as per the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day official website. Early Irish settlers to the American colonies, many of whom were indentured servants, brought the Irish tradition of celebrating St. Patrick’s feast day to America. The first recorded St. Patrick’s Day parade was held not in Ireland but in New York City in 1762, and with the dramatic increase of Irish immigrants to the United States in the mid-19th century, the March 17th celebration became widespread. Approximately 16% of New Jersey residents have Irish ancestry which is second only to the Italian ancestry at nearly 18%. Even if you are not of Irish decent, you can still enjoy yourself at our parade party which is like a large tailgating party. We hope to see you this year!
